Spoiler

People needed a clearer, more reassuring way to pay bills digitally. I led product design from discovery to launch, testing and refining scan and search journeys, customer-number guidance, and error recovery. In the first eight days, customers paid 2,610 bills through the app.

Challenge

People needed to find the right provider, identify their customer number, and trust that their payment had gone through. Existing offline habits were familiar; digital alternatives were not. We needed to reduce uncertainty without hiding the complexity of third-party payment processing.

My Role

I led product design from discovery to launch, partnering with a product manager, UX researcher, and iOS and Android engineers. Over a nine-week delivery cycle, I owned journey mapping, interaction design, prototyping, usability testing, error states, and developer handoff.

Process

We started with interviews and a review of existing payment journeys. Research revealed that locating the customer number was a bigger barrier than entering payment details. I explored scan and search entry points, tested prototypes with customers, and refined the flow around comprehension and recovery.

Solution

The final experience offers two clear entry points: scan a barcode or search for a provider. A contextual guide helps people find their customer number, while a review step makes the amount and available balance explicit. Every failure state explains what happened and gives the customer a useful next step.

Outcome

Paying bills in Naranja X felt uncertain, so people hesitated before confirming. I led product design from discovery to launch and rebuilt the flow around two entry points (scan or search), guided customer-number entry, and errors that always offer a clear next step.
